Want to Change Your Life? Do These 3 Things!

You have big dreams and goals. You want to see them through, but life keeps getting in the way. You feel stuck and uninspired.

It’s time to make a change!

Here are three things you can start today to help you create a life you love:

1. Practice gratitude.

I know I say this a lot, but if we only change ONE thing to help create a life we love, I think this is the one that packs the biggest punch. Gratitude–the deep down, feel it at your core kind–allows us to attract good into our lives. The more we practice gratitude, the more the Universe sends things into our lives to be grateful for. It creates a positive cycle of gratitude and blessings to be grateful for!

Try this today: Sit quietly with your eyes closed and your hands over your heart. Picture a moment in your life when you felt deep and complete gratitude. Put yourself in that moment and FEEL the gratitude you felt then. Allow yourself to be there, completely, for a few minutes. Repeat with at least two more moments in your life where you felt deep gratitude.

2. Meditate.

Yup. As always, I go back to this. But it’s a game-changer, you guys!

Taking time to get quiet, be still and check in with yourself is key to creating a life you love. Meditation can help you get centered, grounded and focused. It can help you stay steady when things feel uncertain. And it doesn’t have to be hard.

Try this today: Listen to a guided meditation for at least 5 minutes. (Sign up for my mailing list to get a set of three downloadable recorded meditations or check out Insight Timer, Calm or YouTube for other options.) Don’t worry about emptying your mind. Just follow the meditation and when you find yourself drifting, come back to your breath.

3. Take action.

You have to take action. The Universe wants to help you get to your goals and realize your dreams. But it needs to know you’re serious, that you’re willing to put in the work. Even if you don’t know all the hows of getting to the ultimate goal (because we rarely do when we have a big idea or dream), you have to start somewhere. Take one step. Then another. Then another. I promise you the Universe will keep supporting you until you see your dreams come true.

Try this today: Whatever your goal is, come up with ONE action you can take right now to get you closer to it. Now, and here’s the key, GO DO IT. Wash, rinse, repeat…and watch the progress you make!

Bonus: Create a morning ritual.

I know, I know. You like your sleep. But trust me on this one. You don’t have to lose hours of sleep to start a morning ritual. And you don’t have to get up before the crack of dawn (unless you already are).

You just have to choose an activity you enjoy and do it. It’s as simple as that. Starting your day on a positive note by doing something you love first thing in the morning will set the tone for the rest of your day. And if you create a ritual for yourself and do it every single day, you’ll notice that your days will be more productive and more enjoyable.

Try this tomorrow: Get up just FIVE minutes earlier and do something you love to start your day. Journal, drink your coffee in the quiet, roll out your yoga mat for a few Sun Salutations or easy stretches, repeat your “I am” affirmations or use the time to meditate. And if none of these appeal to you, do something else. Just get up and start your day on a positive note doing something YOU enjoy. Don’t try to start too big. Choose one thing to do for five minutes and DO IT. Every single day. You can always add things on later. But start small and get things rolling.
